This isn’t a taster session with the good stuff held back. Jonathan will walk you through the complete acquisition framework — the same one his clients use to close deals in weeks, not years.
What You'll Discover on This Live Training
Search “how to buy a business” on Instagram or YouTube and you will find an endless line of men in their twenties standing in front of rented Lamborghinis, telling you that business acquisition is easy, fast, and requires nothing from you except the willingness to click a link.
I have been buying and selling businesses for 27 years. I want to tell you honestly what they are getting right and what they are getting catastrophically wrong, because the lie is costing genuinely capable people serious money.
What the Instagram gurus get right:
It is genuinely possible to buy an established, profitable UK business without putting a single penny of your own money into the deal. The mechanisms exist. I teach them. My clients use them every week.
What the gurus get catastrophically wrong:
The word “easy.”
Buying a business is not easy. But it is straightforward. And that distinction is the entire point of my training.
The process can be straightforward, with every step documented, every decision point defined, and every piece of paperwork templated. Yet it still requires real work, real focus, real discipline, and the willingness to sit in uncomfortable conversations with strangers. Anyone telling you otherwise has either done one deal or none.
I’ve done 70 deals. Here’s what they actually looks like.
Who is Jonathan Jay
I started in business acquisition in 1999, when I accidentally sold my first company.
A buyer approached me — I wasn’t even looking to sell. When the money landed in my account, I made more in that single day than I had earned in the previous two and a half years of running the business.
That was the moment I understood something I’ve never forgotten: the real money in business is not in running them. It’s in buying and selling them.
Since then, I’ve completed more than 70 acquisitions across multiple sectors — services businesses, manufacturing, specialist consultancies, e-commerce, and property-adjacent companies.
I’ve made every possible mistake a business buyer can make. I’ve lost money on bad calls. I’ve gradually built a system that documents how to avoid those mistakes — or at least how to recover quickly when you make them anyway.
I’ve written 14 books on business, recorded over 360 podcast episodes, and produced more than 500 YouTube videos. I’ve taught over 13,000 people through our community, including primary school teachers, beauticians, warehouse workers, property investors, senior professionals, and existing business owners.
The system works across for everyone, because it isn’t tied to any particular background.
That community scale matters for one specific reason: the system has been tested across 13,000 people from every conceivable starting point.
I know which parts beginners get wrong. I know which objections are legitimate and which are just fear dressed up as logic. My training addresses both.
Who I am not:
- I am not a guru. I am not 26 years old with a rented Lamborghini and a YouTube channel telling you that everything is easy.
- I am not pretending I got it right every time. I didn’t. I still don’t, sometimes. What I have is a system that tells me what to do when things go wrong.
- I am not selling you a dream. I am offering you a free 60-minute training where I explain, honestly and specifically, how business acquisition actually works in 2026. That is the entire pitch.
Get the Whole Story.
There is no good stuff held back for the paid programme. I will take you through the complete acquisition framework — step by step — the same process my clients use to close deals in weeks.
By the end of the 60 minutes, you will know:
- Why 2026 is the single best year in a generation to buy an existing UK business — including the three specific forces (a retirement wave, a succession crisis, and a shifting tax environment) that are creating an unprecedented buyer’s market right now
- The 20-step business buying process — from choosing the right type of business to completing a deal in as little as 12 weeks
- The STAR Deal Framework — exactly what makes a perfect acquisition target and how to find owners who are ready and motivated to sell
- The 8 deal structures that let you buy a business without personal capital — including seller financing, asset-backed lending, deferred payment arrangements, and four more that most business brokers have never offered a client
- The 6-sentence script that negotiates the purchase price down by up to 50% — without pressure, without aggression, and without making the seller feel cornered
- The corporate structure that eliminates personal risk — how professionals protect themselves so their existing assets, home, and finances are never exposed
- How to build a deal team that works for free — lawyers, accountants, due diligence specialists, and HR experts who only get paid after you’ve bought the business
- Why buying a business beats building one every single time — and how one acquisition can double the size of a company you’ve already spent a decade growing
- Real case studies with real numbers — from the £1 acquisition that sold for £1.25 million, to the DHL employee who turned a £10 million deal into a business now producing £3 million in annual profit
- The exact next step to take immediately after training — including how to identify your first real acquisition target within 7 days of the webinar. (You’ll see exactly how fast this can work in the examples below.)

These are not hypothetical scenarios. These are real people, in the UK, who came through the training and applied the system.
Peter
Before: Earning £35,000 a year as an employee.
Eighteen months after attending the training, Peter owned the company he used to work for — a business doing £6 million a year in revenue. Not a penny of his own money went into the deal.
“I went from employee to the owner of a £6 million revenue business in 18 months. I was earning £35,000 a year. I am now the owner of a business turning over £6 million — and I did it without using a penny of my own cash.”
Tim
Before: Primary school teacher. No finance background. No business degree. No wealthy parents.
Sixty working days after attending the training, Tim owned a business doing £3 million in annual turnover and £400,000 a year in profit.
Sixty days.
“Nine months from full-time teacher to owning a £3 million business — with no money of my own in the deal and no finance. It makes £400k profit a year.”
Cara
Before: One beauty salon doing around £180,000 a year.
Cara learned the acquisition process and started buying other salons. She now owns seven, turning over more than £2 million a year. She didn’t tell her husband at first. He now works for her.
“From a 180k beauty business to owning seven salons with 2 million in annual revenue. I didn’t even tell my husband at first. Now he works for me.”
Dean
Before: Two years of trying to buy a business. Books, videos, brokers — nothing worked.
Once Dean learned the system, he closed his first deal in 90 days. Eighteen months later, the business was producing £140,000 a year in profit.
“I tried to buy a business for two years and got nowhere. Jonathan showed me a system. I had my first deal done in 90 days. Eighteen months later that business makes £140,000 a year.”
Different people. Different backgrounds.
Different starting points. Same system.
You might be wondering why I keep saying “2026” specifically.
Here is why. Three things are happening at the same time, and together they add up to something I haven’t seen before in 27 years of doing this.
First:
The baby boomer generation who built the UK’s small and medium business economy is retiring. Hundreds of thousands of profitable, established businesses are going to change hands in the next five years. These aren’t notional start-ups — they are real trading companies with real customers, real staff, and long-standing commercial relationships.
Second:
Unlike every previous generation, these owners are not passing their businesses to their children. The kids don’t want them. Which means the business a boomer spent 30 years building has nowhere to go — except to an outside buyer, or to closure.
Third:
The Chancellor has raised capital gains tax, employer National Insurance, and a long list of other costs that hit business owners directly. Owners who were “thinking about selling someday” are now selling this quarter — and they are far more flexible on price and deal structure than they were two years ago.
Put those three forces together and you get a buyer’s market unlike anything in the previous generation. The sellers are motivated. The pricing is soft. The deal structures are flexible. And a specific kind of person — someone who is prepared — can move quickly.
The window is open now. It will not be open indefinitely. And it is not open to people who haven’t positioned themselves to act.
I want to be straight with you before you register, because I’d rather lose a few sign-ups than have the wrong people on the session.
This training is for you if:
- You are approaching a career transition — redundancy, retirement, a late-career reset — and you want a smarter income strategy than starting over in employment. You already own a business and organic growth is starting to feel like pushing water uphill. You have infrastructure, cash flow, and commercial context — and you want to compound what you’ve built rather than grind it out one more year at a time.
- You are employed and earning good money yet feeling the gap between the income you generate and the wealth you actually own. You have stability. You have capital working somewhere. You’re wondering whether there’s a more deliberate vehicle for what you’ve already built.
- You are a UK property investor tired of thinning yields, 2am maintenance calls, and a regulatory environment that gets worse every year. You already understand leverage, cash flow, and asset acquisition — you just need to see where those skills pay considerably more than they currently do.
- You have recently sold a business and are sitting on exit capital, looking for something more interesting than index funds. You already know how to evaluate a deal. You just need the current framework for how acquisition works in 2026.
- You are approaching a career transition — redundancy, retirement, a late-career reset — and you want a smarter income strategy than starting over in employment.
This training is NOT for you if:
There are also three types of people who consistently get less from this training than everyone else. If this is you, I’m genuinely better placed to help you at a different time.
- You are in serious financial distress. This is not a rescue plan. The mechanism requires some stability, some capital working somewhere, and the capacity to focus for 60 minutes without worrying about your next bill. If that’s not where you are right now, please don’t register — I would genuinely rather you spend that hour sorting your situation out first.
- You are looking for a lottery ticket. The training does not promise fast riches. It teaches a system that rewards patient, disciplined people who do the work and wait for the right opportunity. Anyone hoping to stumble into a one-in-a-million deal will be disappointed.
- You’ve already “done” business acquisition and are certain you know everything. In my experience, the worst audience for this material is people who bought one business ten years ago and now think they have the whole field figured out. This is for beginners and for people who are genuinely open to questioning what they think they already know.
If you’re still reading after that, you’re exactly who this training is designed for.

Frequently Asked Questions
“Do I need money to buy a business?”
Not in the sense most people mean. The system teaches deal structures where the business itself funds the acquisition. But I want to be straight with you: this is not a mechanism for people with absolutely nothing. It works best for people who already have something working — a career, a business, some capital, or a combination. That’s not a barrier. It’s an asset they don’t yet know how to deploy.
“Do I need business experience?”
No. Most of the people I’ve trained had no prior acquisition experience. Tim was a primary school teacher. Cara was a beautician. Peter was an employee. The system is designed to be followed by intelligent people from any professional background.
“How much time does this actually take?”
Once you know the system, the acquisition process takes around two hours a week on average — because you’re conducting the orchestra, not playing every instrument. You have lawyers, accountants, finders, and due diligence specialists doing the specialist work. Your job is coordination and decision-making, which is exactly what senior professionals already do in their day jobs.
“What’s the catch?”
There isn’t one. I run these trainings because a small number of people who attend decide they want to work with me more closely afterwards, and I have paid programmes for that. But there’s no obligation, no hard sell, and no pressure. What you’ll get is a genuine 60 minutes of content that stands entirely on its own, whether or not you ever spend another penny with me.
“I’m very busy. Is this worth my time?”
If you can find an hour in your week to watch Netflix, you can find an hour to discover whether business acquisition is the right next move for your financial life. 99% of my clients are extremely busy. It has never stopped a single one of them from completing their first deal once they knew how.
WHY REGISTER NOW
Each webinar session is run live so Jonathan can take questions directly. That means each session has a ceiling . If you’re reading this page, there are places available on this week’s session. That changes as the day gets closer.
There’s also this: the 2026 buyer’s market described on this page is not a permanent condition. The tax-motivated sellers, the retiring owners, the flexible deal structures — these are features of this window. The training exists because the window is open now, and the right kind of person who is prepared can act quickly.
The question is only whether you’re prepared.
There are two types of people reading this page.
The first type reads this far, decides to “think about it,” closes the tab, and goes back to whatever they were doing before the ad caught their attention. Six months from now, they’ll see another ad, or a friend’s LinkedIn post, or a podcast episode, and think again about business acquisition — and then close that tab too. They’ll spend the next decade consuming content about wealth-building without ever deploying any of what they learn.
The second type understands that 60 minutes of free live training is a genuinely low-friction way to find out whether this is a serious move for them. They register. They show up. They ask questions. And whether or not they ever become a client of mine, they leave knowing something true about how business acquisition actually works in 2026.
Both types are reading this right now. The difference between them is simply the next two seconds.
The opportunity described on this page is real. The window is open. The only question is whether you’re the type who finds out what’s on the other side of it.
Register for the 10am webinar on Friday 1st May
This isn’t a shortcut. It isn’t a rescue plan. It isn’t a passive-income fantasy.
It’s a 60-minute, honest, live conversation about how business acquisition actually works in 2026 — from someone who has done it more than 70 times, made plenty of mistakes along the way, and documented every step so you don’t have to repeat them.
If that’s what you came here for, I’ll see you on the webinar.
